The project to reduce train travel time between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam has made significant progress.

Traveling from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam takes about 12 hours by regular trains and around 8.5 hours on the Vande Bharat Express.
Soon, it may only take four hours. The project to reduce train travel time between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam has made significant progress, with the route from Shamshabad to Visakhapatnam now planned.
Trains from Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam currently use two routes.
One route goes through Warangal, Khammam, and Vijayawada.
The other route goes through Nalgonda, Guntur, and Vijayawada. These trains travel at speeds of 110 to 130 km/h.
The railway department has proposed new routes.
These new routes would allow trains to travel at speeds of up to 220 km/h. One of the new routes will run next to the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway.
Another route is planned from Visakhapatnam to Kurnool.
This route will go through Vijayawada and Suryapet. It will start in Visakhapatnam and pass through Suryapet, Nalgonda, Kalvakurthi, and Nagar Kurnool before reaching Kurnool.
The preliminary survey for these routes is almost finished. The report will be submitted to the railway board in November.
The plan also includes connecting Shamshabad and Rajahmundry airports.
This will help air travelers reach their destinations quickly using the new semi-high-speed trains.
